Advertising in The Portolan
The Portolan, journal of the Washington Map Society, provides an opportunity for dealer members of the Society to advertise and reach hundreds of map aficionados and institutions throughout the USA and worldwide. Map dealers are encouraged to consider placing ads in The Portolan as their business plans and budgets are developed.
The Portolan is provided to each member and institutional subscriber three times a year.
Total advertising content in The Portolan is limited to roughly 12% of the total pages in the journal, as specified by the WMS Board of Directors. That limit has not yet been reached which means additional ads can be accepted, on a first-come, first-served basis. Again, the opportunity to advertise in the journal is being offered only to dealers who are members of the Washington Map Society.
1. Advertisement Sizes.
Should the three-issue option be selected, payment may be paid in three equal installments, but must be received by the dates noted if the ad is to be included in the journal.
3. Changes to advertising copy. Should the three-issue option be selected, advertising copy may be changed in each of three issues so long as revised copy is received by the advertising copy due dates indicated below. Otherwise, the most recent ad will be used.
4. Production Schedule. The Portolan is printed, mailed, and placed online in April (Spring issue), September (Fall issue), and November (Winter issue) of each year. Mailed copies are posted approximately mid-month.
5. Advertising and Production Deadlines for Advertisers. Advertisers must meet the following deadlines for inclusion of advertising.
